I want to replace my current stainless steel drinking water faucet with something that is in a dark brass finish. Some say that there is more of a deterioration with the brass. Is this with any type of faucet, or only with water is "reverse osmosified?" If this is a problem with the brass and the reverse osmosis filter, does anyone know of a brand of brass cold water faucets that do not corrode with the reverse osmosis filter? I appreciate your thoughts in adavnce.

Look before you drink!!

I started drinking water more regularly a few years ago and I always hated the taste of tap water. But I started using a Brita water filter and that made it easier to drink. However the new apartment I have moved into has different fouler tasting water.

Even after I put it through my water filter I still can’t stand the taste. I have tried tap waters from about 6 different places that I have lived recently and they all tasted about the same and were all bearable after I put them through my brita. I also had to clean out my filter with soap because the taste residue of the water from my new place was so strong it was affecting the taste of other water.

So I asked my building manager about this and they said they 0would call a plumber. However when I inquired about what they found out they were very unresponsive and basically brushed me off. They told me a number of things to try to disuade me.

They said the person who lived there before me never said anything. I said maybe that person didn’t drink a lot of water. Then they told me it’s the location and that when they are in other towns or cities it tastes different. I then said all the previous places I tasted tap water were in this city and one of the places was just down the road.

I have researched online that it might be because of the pipeing. Its an old buidling.

Im wondering if I get the pipes replaced in just my apartment would it solve the problem OR would they have to change the pipeing in the entire buidling OR would they have to do something about the water supply?

My rent is fairly expensive and I would not have moved in if this was going to be an issue.

Any advice is much appreciated.

A rep from water filteration agency came to my house to check my water condition and give me a quote. Basically my water tested out very bad and had a lot of minerals in it. The water from the refrigerator wa the same, i have Whirlpool Gold refrigerator with water filter in it, did it not make any difference? He quoted me 00 for a water fileration system for my entire house. I do not wate rto spend that much, which water filter can i use just for drinking water so that it is good to drink atleast

This is an inexpensive homemade water filter setup. Made from a coffee creamer container, a Brita Water Filter and a 2 inch rubber O-Ring. There are two ways to kill any virus or bacteria which might be in the water and that is to boil the water or to use chemicals. For this video I chose bleach, but there are other chemicals that are available in most outdoors style stores or military surplus stores. I forgot to add to the video that for water that is filled with larger debris and that is a little more cloudy to use a cloth inside the container to extend the life of the filter in use. Be sure to follow the instructions of the brita filter prior to use in the feild, if filter is not placed in a glass of water before using you will end up with water with charcoal dust floating in it. VERY VERY VERY IMPORTANT………..bleach is only partly efective in killing the viruses cryptosporidium and giardia if used alone. The best way to kill all of the little buggers in water is to boil it. The tabs that you can buy at most outdoor stores are also considered a top method. If used prior to filtering the bad taste can be removed. Before using a filter or chemical in your water PLEASE do research on all of it!!!! Find the best option for you then make your choice of how you wish to proceed.
