I have a 104 fluval canister filter, 15 lb of live rock, and 130 watts of light from power compacts. I have been doing regular water changes instead of adding a protein skimmer. Does the canister provide enough oxygen for the fish in the tank or do I need to add a powerhead. Any recomendations for a super quiet skimmer for this size tank. THANKS.

I have a very energetic indigo/red delta tail betta fish. I really want to get him a bigger tank.

The tanks that I am debating on getting are the Tetra Water Wonders 1.5 Gallon, All-Glass Mini Bow 2.5 Gallon, or the Marineland Eclipse Explorer II. I hope to upgrade to a 5+ in the very near future, but I just can’t get a tank bigger than 3 gallons right now (5+ is over my budget now, and I don’t have the time to maintain a bigger tank).

I like the Marineland Eclipse Explorer II:

~It’s very stylish.
~Has a light.
~Has a BioWheel Filter, which is very good.
~Easy to maintain, just plug it in.
~No noisy air pump!

I don’t like the Marineland Eclipse Explorer:

~It’s pricey compared to other tanks of the same size. It’s only avaliable online.
~Once the filter breaks (the electrical pump inside), I will not be able to get a new one. If I get a new one, I will have to pay the price of the tank itself!
~The light can break easily, but this isn’t my biggest concern.
~It doesn’t come with decor. (+$$$$)
~The cartridges are pricey ( for 1)

I like the All-Glass Mini Bow 2.5:

~It’s avaliable at most stores near me, including the non-pet stores.
~It’s visually appealing.
~It comes with a light.
~Pretty cheap.

I don’t like the All-Glass Mini Bow 2.5:

~The light can break easily.
~The Whisper 10i filter is big. (Not a big concern)
~No decor. (+$$$)
~The filter may be to strong for my betta.

I like the Tetra Water Wonders 1.5 Gallon:

~It’s compact in size.
~Very cheap.
~Comes with decor.
~Has a drawer.
~Has a light.
~The cartridges are cheap ( for 2)

I don’t like the Tetra Water Wonders 1.5:

~The light isn’t that bright.
~The filter is loud.
~The filter cartridges need to be changed more than others.
~The air pump is loud.

Now, I need help deciding which tank to get.

I really, really, like the Mini Bow 2.5 (It would be my choice), but I must know if the current is too strong for a betta! I know you can adjust the current, but some people say that it’s still strong. I am not interested in getting the Red Sea Deco Nano Art filter.

So, I’m probably going to get the Water Wonders. But, it’s still loud, and I don’t like loud things. And people say the noise is not easy to muffle.

I wish I could get the Explorer, but it’s too pricey. It’s a very good tank, though.

I already have supplies: water conditioner, food, etc. I will have to get a heater, though. Probably the Hydor 7.5 watts Mini Heater.

Please tell reviews, experience, and if you recommend any of the above tanks. I will choose an answer that includes review, experiences, or recommendations as best. (I am NOT getting tankmates for my betta.) If there are any small tanks that you recommend, please tell!

Again, I want to know a little about the tanks from your perspective.

i have a 55 gallon freshwater fishtank. there is gravel, water, 2 15 watt lights, and a filter. i have already added the aquasafe dechlorinator. it has been up and running forabout three days now. the water is crystal clear and it doesnt smell at all. when is it safe for me to add plants? when can i add fish?

Hello, i need some tips on raising my fish. Just bought them today.

My tanks specs:

20gallons
Top Fin 20 gal filter
100 watts heater Water temp at 77F

5x Tiger Barbs
2x Chiclids (Don’t know which kind) Gray all over with faded orange strips across body.
2x Algae eater Believe they are Plecos

I have 2 7 watt filters in my tiny 2.5 gallon tank and the output is very strong i dont know why? i blocked them with a plastic container with some filter mesh their is no current in the tank currently but will too much current kill the fish? i am trying to take care of tetras!

I have like 7 fancy goldfish in my 50 gallons tank. I change the water every 4days. It is not really cloudy but compare to my other tank which has only guppy, the goldfish tank is more cloudy.
The goldfish tank is a bare tank which has 3 plant and java moss and nothing else. I have 2 power filter also.
my test result is
Ammonia 0
Nitrite .25
Nitrate 80
how is my result ? is the nitrate too high ? how to lower the nitrate ?
I have like 2 filter (both for 70g) and I have all of my fishes for 1 month and there is no sign of stress or anything.
The problem is I didn’t add any fish in there. I bought all of my 7 goldfish at the same time.
The water is not that cloudy, but it’s just not crytal clear like the guppy’s tank.
I change 20% of water every 4 days.
My power filter is Tetra EX70 Flow rate 340/1287
and Marineland flow rate 350g / hour
I use tap water but I leave it with clorine remover 4 nights before chageing it in.

I just found a 30 gallon tank, aqua clear 50 gallon filter, 100 watt heater, and air pump at a garage sale for only !!!!! I know tell me about it. Tank has been cycling for 2 weeks with water, gravel, and filter pad from another 30 gallon tank I have. What would you stock this tank with. I am leaning towards a brittle nose pleco and a small school, 3-4, or silver dollars. Would you consider this over stocked? What would you stock it with? I want to spend no more than total for all my fish in this tank. Thanks!
