Testing a Berkey water filter at the camp
www.survivalistboards.com While spending a few days at the camp, I decided to hook up the Royal Berkey water filter and give it a test. The Royal Berkey is made out of stainless, so rodents can not chew through it. This makes it a good choice if your looking for a long term storage filter – in other words, something you can store and not have to worry about it. Each filter can filter around 3000 gallons 2 filter unit – about 6000 gallons 4 filter unit – about 12000 gallons For most people, it would be impossible to store 6000 – 12000 gallons of safe drinking water. But with a Royal Berkey and 2 filters, its possible to make an estimated 6000 gallons of water safe to drink.

Water Run (3 of 9)
Every survival exercise follows the same basic pattern. The first day you run around like a one-armed paperhanger trying to get into a stable situation. Day two is spent working hard improving your situation. By day three you are just camping and have time to relax a bit. This trip followed that classic pattern. Your top three priorities are usually shelter, fire, and water. These three allow you to create stable conditions. My first day priorities were shelter and fire, I was low on water but I had some. That made getting water the first order of the day on day two. Once that was taken care of I had time to do some scouting and work on making camp comfortable.
