What is the best Water Filter used for drinking?
What do you guys think about Crystal Quest products? Is it one of the better ones or not?
Or what about the Water Filters at walmart- which one is better to go for?
(Just trying to decide which Water Filter is the best to use, for when I finally do buy one.)
(I wont to get a Water Filter to get rid of all the bad things that we end up drinking from our tap water.(miniscule amounts of drugs, chlorine, lots of iron, Fluoride, nitrate, rust, ETC!)

Why do I have bubbles in new fish tank?
Hello, I bought a very small Black Moor yesturday along with a small 10 gallon fish tank + filters/other. The Black Moor is currently in one of my larger fish tanks while i get the newer tank ready. I dont want him to be attacked by my other bigger goldfish… (hes really small compared to the others).
Anyways, the new fish tank has a lot of bubbles at the surface…
They are mostly around the place where the water from filter falls into the tank. They look like tiny soapy bubbles (not the typical bubbles you see). The water also smells rather strange and not like regular water. I was wondering what they are, and if they are dangerous…
Should i let the water rest for a few more days before moving the fish into that tank? or what?
I didnt use anything but clean tap water from my sink. (no cleaning products involved)
This is the filter that I am using: http://www.completepetmart.biz/tewhexfisy2.html
Sorry, bubbles are really small, but very white, all clustered together, and on very very high amounts at the surface.
I’ve used a teaspoon (5mL) of something called Tetra AquaSafe

What's the best alternative to Aquafina?
I am a person who dislikes water, in general. But I LOVE Aquafina. Other bottled waters, to me, have subtle but unpleasant and unwelcome flavors that make me even more unlikely to drink water. And tap water doubly so. Aquafina does not. I feel like it tastes so clean it’s almost sweet. Lately there has been a lot of bad press about bottled water, though, and it’s negative effects on the environment, and I’m thinking of switching to filtered. But I’m skeptical that anything could compare to Aquafina and afraid I would be disappointed.
I’m wondering if there are other people who have felt the same way about Aquafina but made the switch and what the closest comparison would be (that isn’t horribly expensive and/or inconvenient to find and maintain?) And how close it really is. I feel like filtered tap water I’ve tasted in the past also had a weird flavor.
And, taking it a step further, is there a big difference in taste between the pitcher and the sink filter?
Thanks!

Is tap water supposed to pass through a Brita filter quickly?
I have a Brita water pitcher and all the unfiltered tap water just passes through the filter in less than 30 seconds.
so if i have the filter inserted correctly with the fins aligned properly and the water just seeps through the bottom of the filter in a constant stream does it mean i have a defective filter? and can i get a replacement one for free?
My fridge water tastes strange – not the filter, no spoiled food?
Whirlpool side-by-side fridge. Had it for 8 years, no problem. Last month the water started having a strange almost plasticy taste. Ice started tasting strange too obviously. When I flush the water from the system, the water tastes normal again, so I don’t think it’s the filter, and it’s also not the city water (kitchen tap water tastes fine).
Just to be sure I changed the filter as well, but the taste reappears after the water chills for some time inside the fridge. Nothing has spoiled in the fridge, but just to be safe we’ve cleaned it out completely.
I believe there is some kind of mold or contaminant in the water line inside the fridge. I pulled off the bottom kickplate of the fridge, where you can see where the water line for the cabinet is coupled to the water line for the door. No discoloration seen inside either of these clear tubes. The water cooling coil that sits inside the fridge, near the fresh produce section also appears clear, no discoloration.
So I’m running out of things I can check on my own. Guidance appreciated.
Aquarium PH 9.0 and medium hard…help!?
We set up a 33 gallon aquarium two months ago and filled it with tap water (Culligan softened and filtered). Let it filter for two weeks and cycled it with 3 Platties and 4 guppies. Two weeks later levels were nearly perfect and someone gifted us with three Mollies from another dealer. We didn’t want them (hadn’t planned on any new fish yet, and Mollies weren’t in our ultimate plans) but had no choice to accept and add them to tank.
Within three weeks two of the Mollies had died and all four guppies. Water tests all came back good and remaining 3 Platties and one Molly seem very active and healthy.
Finally had Ph tested digitally at fish store…9.0 or even a little higher! He was shocked…medium hardness. I’m sure this has to do with Culligan water softening methods (although in the beginning everyone told me it would be fine to use!!).
Now, should I slowly lower my tank Ph so that I can add some cory cats, Zebra danios, etc.? Or just buy more Platties and have a Platy tank as they can obviously adjust to the water parameters I have now?
I’m so confused!! (Another option is to buy neutral water from fish store and use that when I make water changes…tap water also measures 9.5 Ph).
Brita Filter water for a fresh water a aquarium!?
So i have filled my tank with Brita filtered water. We have very hard tap water round here so i thought it might help get some of the bad stuff out. I did an ammonia test just because i was curious and i found that tap water actually contains less ammonia than the filtered water!…wtf? Why is that?
Tap water at my new apartment tastes foul compared to other tap waters?
I started drinking water more regularly a few years ago and I always hated the taste of tap water. But I started using a Brita water filter and that made it easier to drink. However the new apartment I have moved into has different fouler tasting water.
Even after I put it through my water filter I still can’t stand the taste. I have tried tap waters from about 6 different places that I have lived recently and they all tasted about the same and were all bearable after I put them through my brita. I also had to clean out my filter with soap because the taste residue of the water from my new place was so strong it was affecting the taste of other water.
So I asked my building manager about this and they said they 0would call a plumber. However when I inquired about what they found out they were very unresponsive and basically brushed me off. They told me a number of things to try to disuade me.
They said the person who lived there before me never said anything. I said maybe that person didn’t drink a lot of water. Then they told me it’s the location and that when they are in other towns or cities it tastes different. I then said all the previous places I tasted tap water were in this city and one of the places was just down the road.
I have researched online that it might be because of the pipeing. Its an old buidling.
Im wondering if I get the pipes replaced in just my apartment would it solve the problem OR would they have to change the pipeing in the entire buidling OR would they have to do something about the water supply?
My rent is fairly expensive and I would not have moved in if this was going to be an issue.
Any advice is much appreciated.
Is water that is filtered through a Brita filter the same as distilled water?
I read recently that the tips of spider plant (and other plants’) leaves will brown if they are watered with tap water, because of the chemicals added to tap water.
If I water them from water that has gone through a Brita filter, will that be the same as watering with distilled water?
